I’ve never seen Ronda that fired up at a weigh in. I think she was about to cry!
Woah. Ronda Rousey was interviewed by the Fox Sports 1 panel immediately afterwards and explained what went down there. Ronda put her fist on the outside, which was something Holly Holm had been doing at all the staredowns previously, to annoy Holm. Clearly Holm took offense to this, and put her fist on Rousey’s jaw. NOT the smartest move. Ronda then shoved her arm off, and then went off on Holly.
The general consensus from EVERYONE is that Rousey was just trying to get last minute impulse buys for tomorrow, because Holly Holm is one of the nicest people ever. I don’t know if that’s entirely the case, however. I think Rousey was definitely given the line about seeing right through Holm’s act, or at least planned on saying it, but I don’t think she’s a good enough actress to almost cry on command. I saw Entourage. I think we just saw genuine emotion from the Champ. Why? I don’t know. It could be just because she got a little shaken up and didn’t expect that at a weigh-in, but that seems unlikely. I doubt “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey is going to get shaken up because someone touched her face. It may be because her personal life is all kinds of fucked up right now. Her mom hates Edmund and literally wants him dead, everyone is calling her out for dating a domestic abuser, and an article about how she abused her boyfriend went viral yesterday. Maybe. I’m not going to say that’s why she almost cried tonight, and I’m not even going to say I think that’s why, but I won’t rule it out.
Something about Ronda is different recently, and I can’t put my finger on it. Yesterday, she shot down a member of the media for asking why she hung up on the Media Call when asked about Travis Browne. Today, she said she never hung up, but her phone conveniently died after the question she has been avoiding all month came up.
I love Rousey, and I hope that whatever’s gotten into her (Travis Browne) gets out of her as soon as possible. I’ll still be rooting for her tomorrow.
