The Squared Octagon brings on our first regular guest blogger!
Editor’s Note: Hey guys, Robbie here. After almost five months of running the site, I’ve signed on my first regular guest blogger. No, it’s not as important as AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura’s signing, but hey, we’re excited about it. Chip, who previously wrote the Roman Reigns/Triple H at Wrestlemania blog, is going to be writing a couple wrestling blogs a month for us. I think our opinions on wrestling differ enough to give you guys different and unique takes on stories.
Take it away, Chip.
Hello and welcome to the first edition of Chip’s Corner, a look at the wacky world of wrestling through the eyes of me, Christian (Chip) Dylewski.
I feel a bit like the new kid in school again, having to introduce myself. To begin, Chip is a nickname, derived from chipmunk; it’s a nickname I got in third grade. I can’t remember why. It eventually got shortened to Chip, and it’s remained for almost my entire life.
I’ve been a fan of professional wrestling since I was about 10. My mother told me I couldn’t watch it, so naturally that made me want to watch it even more. I started with WWE, and eventually discovered companies like TNA and New Japan. I have a love for ring psychology and storytelling. If a match tells a great story, and gets me invested, that’s what makes a five star bout, at least in my mind.
My top three favorite wrestlers of all time, in no particular order, are Daniel Bryan, Chris Benoit, and Kurt Angle. My favorite match of all time is either the triple threat match between AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Christopher Daniels from TNA Unbreakable in 2005, or the Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit “Ultimate Submission” match from Backlash 2001. Both told fantastic stories, and showed the physical toll they took on all the competitors. They’re the two recommendations I give to anyone wanting to learn more about why people love pro wrestling.
I guess that’s really it in terms of myself. Any questions or comments for me, I can be reached at either email@example.com or @buffalochipster. Thanks for reading!
